Where There Is Space
When I look at a picture or drawing of space that includes individual galaxies, I am first impressed by the amount of unused area. If you took a bullet the size of our Sun and shot it through any of these giant clusters of matter, odds are you would hit nothing.
The next thing that hits me is the one thing all galaxies have in common. It is that big, bright center. If you imagine being on a planet orbiting a sun in the farthest reach of any galaxy, your sun would shine brightly, but look at the center of that galaxy. The light from there is so much more brilliant than any of the suns, it would far over-power that planet in light.
Our Milky Way galaxy is no exception. The center is tremendously bright! So much so that scientists have measured energy levels coming from where the center should be that out-weigh any other readings from our cluster of lights. So if all this light is shooting our way, why don't we see it?
There is a theory that some black darkness lies between us and the center. It shades us from what would otherwise be a blinding experience. If that is the case, how lucky we are that the lights were dimmed around here! And with that in mind, I wrote this poem....
Where there is Space
If man made a ship
That could travel the stars
And took off from Earth
Passed the moon then by Mars
Viewed Jupiter, Saturn
And the other what-not
Past the speed of light
To the power of thought
Then head to the center
Of our own Milky Way
For a year, two months
Three weeks and a day
He'd pass many planets
Chart many a sun
View nebula reflective
And those in dark form
But when he passed shadows
Of dust in obstruction
Behind it he'd find
Master of all construction
For the core of our galaxy
The Home of our home
Is the source of all power
The place of all known
We've measured much energy
This is a fact
The greatest resides
Behind a great hole of black
Does it cover a truth?
Is the light-void a cloche?
Is there something so secret?
Behind curtain of smoke
For the home of our maker
It would seem is too bright
There'd be too much distraction
An excess of light
So He hides His grand image
Like an eclipse of the sun
That we might live by faith
And believe in His Son
That we might have the freedom
To choose right from wrong
To select good or evil
To stand out from the throng
But someday when that curtain
Is released from its task
And our God is no longer
Obscured behind mask
Then we'll see His full image
And we'll know why we came
All our guilt will be perfect
For we'll know who's to blame
Yes, we'll kneel before Him
With the humblest of heart
We will pray for forgiveness
To be cleansed from the start
We'll hear one of two phrases
"Come My child, enter in"
Or "Ye never did know Me.
Ye were never My friend"
Oh I pray that we all
Will prepare for that day
When both Father and Son
Chase the darkness away
If we're children of light
Then there's nothing to fear
But if children of darkness
Then fair judgment is near
And the lost will depart
To have justice, they must
As they leave, they'll be saying
"Your judgment is just"
And the rest, they will linger
Having little to say
Though their siblings were foolish
They've not wished them away
But the joy that they feel
Is a power within
As they hear from their Master
"Come My child, enter in"
If truth exists in science and in religion, then they must join together in places of common subjects. Our science has gotten better by the year. Our religion has improved as God deemed us worthy to receive information. But at some point, we need to become smart enough to see the connections. I hope in my day to tie as many loose ends together as I can. Thinking about how and why is the best way I have known.

Technically speaking space isn't nothing but the explanation requires an entire hub so I won't post the details in this comment.

Space is nothing.
